The ancient fortress town of the Montefeltro
The tour will start with the visit of San Leo,
defined by Umberto Eco as “the most beautiful city of Italy”, set on a huge insurmountable rock.
You will spend the day by discovering the hamlet: the romanesque church, the bell tower, and the prestigious fortress, famous for being the prison of Giuseppe Balsamo, better known as Count Cagliostro.
The small hamlets of the Montefeltro and the I piccoli borghi del Montefeltro e la dimora della famiglia
Visit of Frontino, the ‘living room” of the Montefeltro which welcomes us in all its elegant simplicity. Through its silent walls, the hamlet tells us its fierce battle between the Montefeltro and the Malatesta families. The tour will continue towards Montefiorentino, the ancient Montefeltro’s heart, just minutes from the borders of Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, to discover one of the most important Franciscan monastery of the Marche region.
Transfer to Sassocorvaro, ancient medioeval hamlet set on an hill overlooking the underlying Foglia Valley, which will let you spot amazing landscapes. You will visit the Rocca Ubaldinesca: peculiar rocca, built by the Ubaldinis, which is perfectly preserved and now houses a small art museum and a delightful small theatre, which was built in what had been the main hall of the fortress. Transfer to Palazzo dei Principi, espectacular seventeenth-century historic house of Carpegna family: a real dream palace in the mountains.
The park between three regions and the poetical places of Tonino Guerra
The day will start by visiting the Sasso Simone e Simoncello Park which will give you stunning views over three regions: the Marche, Tuscany and Emilia Romagna. Then, the tour will continue towards Pennabilli, suggestive towns of the Montefeltro, in which still now you can experience the presence of the Poet Tonino Guerra through its “places of soul”.
