Motorcycle tour discovering Sicily

Meeting with the guides in the port of Palermo and transfer to Cefalù, the door of Madonie’s Park. During the transfer, if it will be possible you will detour till Collesano, where you will visit Targa Florio Museum dedicated to one of the ancient car races on the road, inaugurated in 1906 by Vincenzo Florio and too which had participated drivers like Varzi, Nuvolari, Moss and Enzo Ferrari. After breakfast, departure from Cefalù and, after some kilometers along sinuous coastal road, you will start the climbing on the Madonie, that we will skirt immersed in fabulous landscapes of woods, tops and cork oaks. Stop for a free tasting of the best “Cannoli siciliani” (awarded in 2021), at Caffè Battaglia in the little square of Nicosia. From there, continuous ups and downs between hills as far as the eyes can see, will bring us till Leonforte, Enna and Piazza Armerina, where you will have free time for lunch. Who will have the pleasure, can visit the famous Villa Romana del Casale, UNESCO World Heritage site with its spectacular mosaics. The day will finish in hotel in Caltagirone, “the queen of Monti Erei”, famous for its ceramics. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Breakfast at hotel and back in the saddle through the landscapes of Sicily inland, towards Ragusa Ibla, where you will stop for a brief walk along the elegant course till the square in front of the jewel of the city, its Duomo of San Giorgio. Few kilometers and you will be in Modica, that you will have the opportunity to visit on board the Baroque Train e where you will buy the famous chocolate. Stop for lunch in restaurant in Scicli. Next, you will resume the journey towards the extreme south… Capo Passero! With the scent of salt in our nostrils and the blue of the sea in our eyes, we will relax in the colorful Marzamemi, the most picturesque fishermen’s village in Italy. Transfer to the hotel in Noto, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at hotel and visit of the city of Noto, the capital of Sicilian baroque. From here, driving on hills and valleys bordered along the way by sturdy stone walls and, after the stop for free lunch along the way, in the afternoon we will arrive in Siracusa, where you will pass the rest of the day. If you will have the pleasure, here you have the opportunity to visit the Neapolis’ Archeologic Park with the Greek theatre, the roman Amphitheatre and the Ear of Dionysus. At sunset, on Ortigia Island, a rich aperitif in front of the sea will be waiting for you. Back to the hotel and overnight.

After breakfast, departure for the transfer till Taormina, where you will have free time for a walk along the Corso Umberto I, to visit the formidable Greek theatre o simply enjoy the breathtaking views on Naxos’ gulf and Etna volcano. Back in the saddle when the road becomes more meandering and the landscape more and more lunar, we will have begun to climb the “Mungibeddu”, as the people in Sicily call the highest mountain, Etna volcano. Once arrived at an altitude of 1.910 meters, after free lunch, we will dedicate some hours to an incredible excursion on the top of the active highest volcano in Europe. Transfer to the hotel near Etna area, dinner and overnight.

Departure after breakfast to enter the Sicilian countryside and drive among vineyards, olive groves, citrus orchards and wheat fields: a show of wild beauty at the foot of the giant. Twists and turns will gradually accompany our entrance in Monti Nebrodi’s woods, where we will stop for a typical lunch at restaurant. Back in the saddle, we will enter one of the most singular places of the island. A charming and mysterious place: the megalithic area of Argimusco, the “Sicilian Stonehenge”. We will dive into the green of the woods and charming landscapes of Nebrodi till reach the sea in Capo d’Orlando. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Departure for the last day in motorbike in Sicily and, to round off our journey, we have thought for you a legendary path. In fact, from Monti Nebrodi, we will turn back in the heart of Madonie, to honor on our beloved two heels the legendary “Targa Florio”. After a stop for free lunch along the way, you will progressively leave on your back the rugged and hard peaks, the woods of firs and oaks to cross the rolling hills covered with cultivated fields and flowering brooms, till Floripopoli, the little town of motors created by Vincenzo Florio, and then go down to the sea. Transfer to the hotel in Palermo, dinner and overnight.

Free day dedicated to the exploration of Palermo by foot, immersed in its markets overflowing with fruits and vegetables (the Mercato del Capo, Ballerò and of Vucciria), or admiring Arab, Norman and byzantine art masterpieces (the Cathedral, Palazzo dei Normanni, La Martornana…) in addiction to the inevitable baroque (Casa Professa or Chiesa del Gesù). Also, for lunch you be free to choose the best solution for you. We recommend you to taste local specialties like “pane e panelle”, “crocchè”, “quaglie”, “sfincione” or “scacce” by street vendors.
